This was a garden design project with a difference. This small townhouse garden transformation was a special project by Cooper-Hayes Garden Design to help a lovely family create a space where they and their daughter Lilly could have fun after beating cancer.
When I first saw the garden it was in a bit of a mess. With little time for gardening outside of hospital visits, it had become an unsafe and uninspiring place to be. I wasn't happy with that, and set about doing something to change it.
In a DIY SOS style project, CHGD enlisted the support of some very generous businesses to do a one-day makeover of the garden to make it a safe and enjoyable place to spend time together. Together with help from other family members we painted fences, laid a new sandstone patio and lawn, and gave the whole space a funky new feel. Easy to maintain plants introduce vibrancy to the borders, and Lilly has already taken to gardening and loves the bees and butterflies that come to visit.
